Inspire+ Series
Since 2018 we have been running the genYOU Inspire series in partnership with Brisbane City Council. We had originally planned to launch the 2020 events in April this year ... and then COVID-19 hit and like many we had to change our plans.

So we designed the Inspire+ series. Four short online events that will run throughout May and June, allowing you to connect with industry experts and continue your career development all from the comfort of your own home!

The series will consist of:
>> Two genYOU Inspire sessions which will include local legends discussing set topics (just like our normal inspire sessions)
>> Two 'Ask Me Anything' sessions which will feature an industry expert who is available to literally answer any of your burning career questions

Join one or join them all.

The sessions are completely free and our #NoFilter advice will stay at the core of all we do because, above all else, we remain committed to helping you unleash your potential!
Proudly presented by Brisbane City Council.
Brisbane City Council is committed to nurturing innovation and investing in a strong economy with more jobs right across Brisbane. The 2020 genYOU Inspire program offers young people opportunities to develop their employment skills and make an immediate impact for our city's local businesses.
>> Session 1: How to boost your career at any time, even during a pandemic.
Most of us cannot afford to put our careers on hold for six months. Irrespective of our life situation, the world is moving at a terribly fast pace and we need to be ready to jump on opportunities that might come out of this crisis.

How does one work on a career during a crisis? What are some of the practical and accessible strategies to keep moving forward even during social distancing? What opportunities can we create for ourselves whilst the world is bunkering down?

Join us to uncover opportunities which were not available in pre-pandemic times.

>> Session 3: Ask Me Anything. The battle of conflicting career advice.
Career advice is one of those messy things where everyone has an opinion, and rarely does anyone have the same one! In this week's Ask Me Anything our industry expert will give you their #NoFilter take on your conflicting career advice. Some of our favourites include:

>> Should I include a photo on my CV?
>> Do employers bother to look through social media profiles?
>> Does GPA actually matter?
>> What do I do about the big gap in my CV?

There is no question too weird for this AMA (career related of course) and even if you think you know the answer - why not throw another opinion into the mix?

If there was one perfect time to get all your online ducks in a row, it’s now. Not only are we online with a suite of digital products at our disposal, but we also have more time available to get to what can otherwise be a “backburner task."

What should the perfect job hunter persona look like? What three platforms should you definitely be on? What are the biggest mistakes to avoid? Should you be doing anything different in response to the crisis?

Join us to learn how to leverage our digital selves for a stronger job hunt.
